Part of Taumarunui
for over 30 years
Rata St Preschool has grown through the support of local whānau and our wider community. We are proud to be a small, independent, not-for-profit preschool, focused on the children and families who walk through our doors rather than being part of a large chain.
Being small is a big part of what makes us different. We know our families, we know our tamariki, and we have a strong sense of whanaungatanga.
Our philosophy
Ka tākaro tātou. Ka ako tātou. Ka tipu tātou.
We play. We learn. We grow.
Play
At our centre we believe play is essential for learning. It allows children to explore, create and develop vital skills in a fun, engaging way. Through play children connect with others and make sense of the world around them.
Learning
Learning is a continuous journey where each child is empowered to lead their own discovery. We follow the principles of Te Whāriki, supporting children to be confident, curious and capable learners while nurturing their individual needs and interests.
Growth
Growth is holistic: emotional, social, physical and cultural. Supported by families, the wider community and strong relationships grounded in whanaungatanga, every child builds confidence, resilience and a strong sense of identity. We grow together.
Small, independent
and not-for-profit
Rata St is community-owned. There is no head office and no shareholders, so every decision is made for the children and whānau here in Manunui and Taumarunui.
We value strong relationships with tamariki, whānau and our wider community, and our close connection with our local schools. We want Rata St to feel like a place where everyone belongs.
